Where you will actually be staying
There is no hotel at the course beyond its own small lodging, and no town within easy reach, so most groups stay in Milwaukee or at Kohler and drive out. That is the single most useful thing this page can tell someone planning a trip, and it is the reason the drive times above run to five rows rather than three.
Walking only, with caddies. There are no carts, so a round is a full day rather than a morning, and the pick-up time people give us is almost always optimistic by an hour.

Erin Hills is west and north of Milwaukee while Kohler is straight up the lake, so the two are further apart than a map suggests. Golfers who play both on one trip usually underestimate it.

In a tournament week the roads around the course are managed, parking is remote and shuttled, and a car that drops at the gate cannot wait at the gate. Outside one, it is a walking course on 650 acres of Washington County farmland with a very small clubhouse and no town attached.
For those weeks an hourly, as directed reservation is usually the right structure rather than point to point, for the same reason it is at Alpine Valley: when a car cannot wait where it dropped you, the only thing that works is a car that never left.

Will four sets of clubs fit?
Six large suitcases at standard checked size, or the equivalent. Golf travel bags take more room than their dimensions suggest, though golfers tend to know that already. With two passengers the third row folds down, which roughly doubles what fits.
How much does it cost?
The quote is the number you pay. All fares, fees, taxes, tolls and chauffeur gratuity are in it, and each line is shown rather than buried. As directed by the hour runs $110 to $150 depending on the service level, all-inclusive, and point to point is priced on distance and time. Point to point has no minimum. Airport transfers and hotel shuttles are often under an hour, and consecutive trips can be booked back to back. Hourly, as directed carries a minimum of three hours on weekdays and four at weekends.
